Little Blue Truck

Little Blue Truck
By Alice Schertle
Illustrated by Jill McElmurry

In this rhythmic, rhyming board book, the Little Blue Truck motors along spreading friendliness, even stopping to help out a bully in need.

Blue is the epitome of a good neighbor. He greets everyone he passes. He offers free rides. He rallies his friends to help the Dump Truck out of a serious jam, even after the Dump insulted them all.

The story isn’t subtle – summed up by the Dump reflecting, “Now I see a lot depends on a helping hand from a few good friends!” – but it’s thoroughly enjoyable even after dozens of readings. The illustrations easily tell the story on their own, including the page when the rain starts. Great for all ages, including the littlest of little ones (my 17-month-old nephew’s favorite book!).
